CHRIS ARONHALT
Chris began his career
in sports marketing as Venue Director for the original Medalist
Sports, Inc., which owned and operated the Tour DuPont and Tour
of China, two of world’s former premier professional
cycling events. Chris developed, coordinated and implemented
local requirements of participating Tour venues.
Following this,
Chris Aronhalt was employed by Turner Sports and worked directly
on the 1998 Goodwill Games (NYC). As Director
of Games Management, Chris held direct operational responsibility
for Summer of Goodwill entertainment and promotional programs,
which included Jones Beach Music Festival, Gold Medal Challenge,
Opening Celebration, Global Pavilion and the Closing Celebration.
Functional areas of venue management responsibility included
contract negotiation, security, sponsor fulfillment, communications,
housing, accreditation, logistics, vendor relations, concessions,
ticket operations, venue owner relations, medical services,
labor, risk management liaison, city and state relations,
utilities, and staffing. Total operational budget was
$5.5 million. Initially, Chris held the position of Assistant
Director of Television & Technical Services with Goodwill
Games, Inc. where he assisted the Technical Director
with the preparation, management and implementation of the
following functional areas - host broadcast/production liaison,
communications, security, accreditation, results coordination/interface,
venue/facility management, city/state relations, technology
and waste management.
In January 2001,
Chris joined Synergy Sports as Vice President of Operations. Designed
to enhance structure and direction to the multiple facets
of Synergy’s operations, Chris was responsible for
overseeing all client service areas, including, program development,
creation of new Synergy properties, overall program management,
and, as a member of the senior management team, providing
input into the vision and future direction of the Company. Chris
came to Synergy Sports from Greenville Events, Inc.,
a non-profit special event company located in Greenville,
SC. As Executive Director, GEI specialized in community
sporting events and festivals requiring direct interaction
with city officials, Board members, corporate and community
leaders. Responsibilities include all facets of event
management, including profit/loss management, fundraising
and corporate sponsorships, technical services, operations,
volunteer recruitment, media/promotion and marketing. 1999 & 2000
calendar included nine (9) special events attended by over
700,000 people with an operational budget of $1.3 million.
Prior to Greenville
Events, Inc., Chris graduated from the University of Richmond
(VA) in 1989 and from Mount St. Mary’s College in 1994
with a M.B.A. in International Business, with a thesis focus
on The Use of Athletic Endorsements in Sports Marketing.
Chris, who is from
Wilmington, Delaware, is married to his wife Kathryn, who
is from Barrington, Rhode Island, and have a daughter named
Paige and a chocolate Labrador named Buckley.
